THE
MEAL
Start by serving a Melon and Ginger Crush (for an alcoholic
version replace the ginger ale with ginger wine -- available
at liquor stores) and serve the Chicken

Balls with Dipping Sauce as a starter.
For the main course try Sesame Noodles with Shrimp and Cilantro
and some Asian stir fried vegetables (such as mini corn on the
cobs, red pepper, snow peas, mushrooms and bean sprouts) on
the side.
For desert choose a light sorbet (such as lime or mango) and
garnish with exotic fruits like pineapple, mango, and star fruit.
THE WINE
If you'd like to serve wine with your meal choose a sweeter
variety to compliment the spicy flavour of the meal. A reasonably
priced Canadian choice is Vineland Estates 1998 gewurztraminer.
This fruity white from Ontario's Niagara region has notes of
lychee, peach, grapefruit, rose petal and ginger making it a
nice compliment to Thai food. It retails for $14.85 a bottle.

THE ENTERTAINMENT
The following movies are set in Thailand and can be rented at
a local video store.
The Beach, starring Leonardo DiCaprio
and Virginie Ledoyen, is based on Alex Garland's award winning
novel. The movie follows the adventures
a young American backpacker (DiCaprio) and a french couple as
they travel from Bangkok to a tropical island in search of the
perfect beach. Once they arrive they are welcomed into a community
of western travellers secretly living there. You can visit the

Broken Down Palace stars Clair
Danes, Kate Beckinsale, Bill Pullman and Lou Diamond Phillips.
It's the story of two teenaged girls on a post-graduation trip
to Thailand. After being accused of drug trafficking, they are
sentenced to 33 years in a Thai prison.
